The Dublin Creative Therapy Centre is delighted to facilitate a new art therapy group – The Creative Connection. The Creative Connection is based on the belief that we all have an unlimited resource of creative potential within us; this innate creative potential is transformative in its ability to heal, express, grow and cultivate a more compassionate self.

What is Art Therapy? Art therapy is a form of psychotherapy that uses art media as its primary mode of expression and communication. Within this context, art is not used as a diagnostic tool but as a medium to address emotional issues which may be present. Art therapy is provided in groups or individually, depending on the individual needs. It is not a recreational activity or an art lesson, although the sessions can be enjoyable. Clients do not need to have any previous experience or expertise in art making.

The Creative Connection art therapy group is designed to be a supportive and encouraging environment for creative exploration and growth. Art therapy groups provide a wide range of responses as we realise, we are not alone in our humanness, or in our experiences and our issues. We are inspired by others experiences, realising we all face periods of challenges and growth throughout life. Finding our own understanding and solutions to not just personal but collective healing and transformation through the creative therapeutic process..

The course offers both directive and non-directive approaches to creativity. It is important to mention that no previous art experience is necessary. This group will be experiential in nature, allowing each individual participant the time and space to explore, express and connect with both themselves and the group on a creative journey of self-discovery.

We look forward to welcoming you on this exciting creative journey.

Benefits of art therapy group work include:

*Meditation/Mindfulness practice
*Self-esteem/confidence
*Insight into interpersonal relationships
*Communication Skills
*Personal Development
*Social Skills
*Opportunities for sharing with those who have experienced similar life experiences.
*Creative expression in a non-judgemental environment
